Jay’s Brush Clearing is led by Jason “Jay” Tuttle, the son of an eleventh-generation New England farmer, a civil and environmental engineer, and a lifelong machinery operator. Jay’s family has been farming in Southern Maine and Southern New Hampshire for over 300 years, cultivating not only the land but a deep respect for it. A passion for stewarding and improving the land is quite literally in his blood.
From an early age, Jay spent countless hours working on the family farm, logging thousands of hours on tractors and heavy equipment long before this business had a name. That early hands-on experience shaped his values: hard work, practical know-how, and pride in a job done right.
Today, Jay applies that same approach to every project — but with the added advantage of a degree in Civil Engineering and an entrepreneurial mindset. His engineering background brings precision, safety, and efficiency to every job site, ensuring that grading, drainage, and land clearing projects are executed with both structural integrity and environmental care. Meanwhile, his business experience ensures clear communication, fair pricing, and reliable follow-through — all centered on what’s best for the customer.
At Jay’s Brush Clearing, every project is guided by a simple promise: practical planning, careful operation, and a top-quality finished product.
~10,000 hours on tractors and heavy equipment.
Civil & Environmental Engineering studies at RIT and the University of Maine (Orono).

Corporate training experience—clear communication and safety focus come standard.
Tell us what you want to use the space for—lawn, pasture, trails, views, or simple cleanup.
We walk the property (or review maps/ photos) and mark priorities, access routes, and any sensitive areas.
With a skid steer and forestry mulcher head, we cut, grind, and mulch in place, minimizing soil disturbance and cleanup.
We leave a tidy mulch layer and practical guidance for next steps like mowing or seeding.
We’re located in South Berwick, Maine, and serve surrounding communities.
If you’re unsure whether we cover your area, just ask, we’ll let you know quickly and, if needed, point you in the right direction.
We use a compact, high-output skid steer paired with a forestry mulcher head (think Bobcat-class machine with a FECON-style mulcher).
This setup is ideal for residential and rural properties: it’s nimble, efficient, and leaves a professional finish without excavation or hauling.
We book projects in every season. Winter often delivers some of the best results thanks to leaf-off visibility and firmer ground, which helps reduce surface disturbance and improves efficiency. If you have a seasonal deadline, spring seeding, summer events, fall hunting access, we’ll schedule to hit it.
We price your job based on your specific scope and project goals. When you receive our quote, we guarantee that you will not pay more than that amount. If weather delays us or we underestimate how long your job will take or how challenging your terrain is, that’s on us. You only pay what we quote, not a penny more. Guaranteed.
